first things first Susan, i want to thank you again, you are a lifesaver. you have always been there in times of need and its been a long time, yet you are still there for me. i love you , and i am so glad to have a big sister like you. i am proud of you.... your son is wonderful, and you have become a bright and beautiful woman. xoxoxoxo
wow, well the first week of school has been so incredibly hectic!!! first of all, they have closed the road for major repairs untill mid october that is the direct route the school bus takes.........thereby making a normal 15 minute route into a 45 minute or longer route.........sigh!
sooooo, being i dont want my kids on the bus after school for an hour..... i am forced to go pick them up. the first couple of days by the time lil W got off the bus she was in tears, K told me it was because she thought they were never gonna make it home. poor thing, so i decided to pick them up in the afternoons for now. sheesh, good thing i know all the different backroads, because the detour is horrendous!!! the other problem is that with all the problems with road closures.... the busses are running super late for the drop off of the am kindergarten class,thereby making the bus super late for the pm pickup so if i want W to be on time (she is pm k.) then i have to go run her to school as well.... lol. go figure, they knew this was a school bus direct route to school, and closed the road the day before school started !!!!!!!!!!!!!! some cities got it all messed up lol.
the week before school K fell off his bike and wasnt wearing his helmet........ i think we all know what im about to say next! shame on me, i didnt insist he wear it, although i always insist on J wearing his. but he is way more aggressive a rider than K. anyways, so he comes running in crying, bleeding ..... i geek and run him to the hospital er. as it turned out it wasnt as bad as i originally thought, he only needed 2 staples in his noggin, but alas, two staples too many in my book!!! they fixed him up, and sent him on his way with a brand new helmet........ this one fits way better, so i was thankful. he didnt like to wear the one he had because it was getting tight, but im about to lock up the bikes for fall and winter..... i know bad excuse to not go buy a new one, again, shame on me! however ....... the kids wont go on a bike , scooter, or skateboard now without their helmets.... (trying to see the bright side here) and K has already gotten his staples out.
omg, i havent even blogged about my new car......... i just realised. S bought me a new car!!! i got a 99 saturn, leather interior, sunroof, everything electric,tinted windows, nice stereo... and its that metallic purple color. we all know my favorite color is purple. woohoo!!! the kids love it, lol J has asked me if i still have it when he is 16 if i will buy me a new car and give him this one. lol ... i remember my mom having a very plush baretta when i was about 15... and longing for her to give it to me when i was licensed to drive. i still have my minivan, i think im gonna fix it and keep it for a backup vehicle. a friend of mine has an engine from the same make and model given free to her as the tranny gave on the vehicle, so we can use that engies parts to fix mine, yay me! not as expensive that way ..... cant beat free!!! but even if i do fix it.... i so wont drive it anymore, i love my new car. its the nicest car i have ever owned! im very proud of it.
on to my garden.......... so my tomatoes were flourishing, then i had to transplant them, they became root bound in the pots i put them in..... they are sort of punishing me now!!! i have lots of tomatoes but they arent getting very big for me....sigh. on the bright side i have jalepenos ... 5 of them to be exact ...lol i know that isnt very many but i am in washington state, um ya we dont usually get much good sun..... so getting five of them to grow i am proud. besides i have never grown them before.... im gloating if i got one to grow lolol. potatoes are doing awesome!!! 'nuff said. i also planted a seed from my red pepper...... i bought a pepper opened it up and there was a sprouted seed in it. me being a spaz, i plant everything lol. soooo i planted that seed. i thought for sure it rotted and died, but omg, would you believe i put it in the ground over 6 weeks ago, and last week it finally sprouted!!! yay me. im glad it grew, but ya, um a little too late, wont get anything from it this year. but i did learn that i can plant the seeds from my store bought peppers and they will grow. woohoo. now i also tried to plant some peach seeds.......omg what a joke!!! i first thought if i broke the seed out of the outer shell it might fare better.... it rotted. then i tried to plant the whole thing, hard outer shell in tact.... it didnt do anything... so tried to pop the seed out, and dry it first, it withered away to a small thing, looked like a dried up leaf lol but i still planted it....nothing! sigh... although i wonder if i cant start it by the same means you do an avacado, poking the seed with toothpicks and submerging it halfway in water??? i will be trying that next. i have some lemon seeds i wanted to plant, but its too late in the season now. i over watered my other lemon plant and it died. its been an excellent year for veggies though, as i have seen next to nothing for pests this year. i think its due in part to the amount of dragonflies and ladybugs we have had this year. i have seen not one aphid in my garden all summer long, thats a first!!! last year my tomatoes were overrun with the damn things.
my flowers have totally suffered thru this summer. many of them couldnt take the heat, and died, others failed to grow properly.... i read somewhere this summer that your seeds can become useless if ever frozen.....i know for a fact my seeds froze last winter because i left them outside with my gardening things. my bad....... they were quite stunted in their growth, they have only gotten to half the size, and havent flowered yet. i think its a lost cause to continue to care for them, but i still do lol. my fushia froze last year too........ i forgot to wrap its roots after i trimmed it off at the end of its season..... so it too has just begun to flower, and i believe it should have been flowering 2 months ago. bummer. i also read in the farmers almanac that if you plant your garden under a full moon... naked...that it will produce the best fruits and veggies .. the biggest.. juiciest .. fruits and veggies.... someday when my kids are grown and have moved out, and i have a big fence (lolol) i will try this method of planting my seeds. this summer i have learned a few more crucial facts about gardening if nothing else.
oh and i also planted these really cool flowers that are supposed to attract hummingbirds....... omg, im heartbroken, they were in way to big of a pot and it seemed they were not thriving, so i transplanted them to a pot that fit them better in hopes they would be happier .... they stopped growing alltogether. so in hindsight i have really learned alot of lessons with my garden this year. next year i will be better prepared. lol
as i am typing this i am watching the count of monte cristo.......... what an awesome movie!!! it sounded lame and i had no intention of watching it, but S was watching it and i kinda got stuck....and it is really good. i am having troubles typing and watching... lol i have saved as draft 4 times now lololol. i want to read this book now. the book is always better than the movie.
i wonder how long you can make a post anyways. is there a limit to how many characters you can type or what? because this post is out of control.... lol
